In this role as a Volunteer Business Mentor or Project Mentor you will support people who are looking for new opportunities and/or pathways into self employment to get started on business or social enterprise or an idea for a community project. Use your skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of these people and who are looking to lead change in their community through community projects and through businesses. As part of this program you’ll learn and apply valuable mentoring and leadership skills to support and develop your own career as well.
Over 6 months of mentoring, you will be help participants through different stages of planning and setting up a business or a community project. Some examples of areas where you will be providing active guidance around are:
Administration & Planning skills: Developing project plans and task prioritisation
Sales & Marketing: Business/client development, marketing and pitching – Funding: Support with grant applications and avenues for business or project funding
Finance & Legal: Calculating profit margins, considering legal issues and contracts. -Technology: Advice on web tools, developing a web presence, use of social media
MENTORING IN THIS PROGRAM – As part of this program you will need to:
Commit to participating in training and workshops
Allocate 3 hours/week of your time for mentoring
Mentor for 6 months from Mid Oct 2022 – Mid Apr 2023 Venue for events will be in North Richmond. Workshops will be held with a hybrid of online and in person online.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM – The Women’s Enterprise and Community project Program (WEC), is a community led, collaborative and holistic program which was voted for by the public and funded by the state government of Victoria. It is a fully subsidised series of programs aimed at encouraging people to become active participants and make a difference in their community.
