Senior Bookkeeper – Join An Expanding Melbourne Team

Our client is undergoing a stage of accelerated growth. They have a proven track record of providing A-Class Bookkeeping services to Australian Businesses. As a result, they have begun a new project and are in search of a Senior Bookkeeper with team leader experience.

The Bookkeeper will have a passion for helping businesses better manage their finances and will be somebody who is confident in leading a team that over-delivers for their clients.

What we are looking for

Given the recent growth of our client, this role is suited for a confident senior Bookkeeper that has a keen eye for detail and prides themselves on their ability to solve number problems. The applicant we seek will be competent in their technical ability and are able to tell if something ‘looks wrong’.

They will be known for their ability to communicate with their clients in a simple manner and in a way that they can interpret the information with ease.

In short, you will always be looking for patterns and ways to make life better for your clients and your team.

Why the role has become available

Our client, who is based in Inner Melbourne, is on a mission to provide 10,000 businesses with the opportunity for prosperity through education and systems. The next 12 months will see growth in both the Inner Melbourne team and a new regional team, helping to further the reach of their services.

The role of Senior Bookkeeper will be split up into the following sections:

Client Management– Bank reconciliations, payables and receivables accounts, BAS & IAS, EOFY BAS, GST reporting, Payroll Tax and Statutory reporting Taxable Payments.
Team Leadership- Daily check-in with each team member, ensure files are complete to a high standard and timelines are met. Support and nurture team to grow through coordination and delivery of team training.

Operations and future planning- Working with the Management team to finely tune the team’s deliverability. Plan and execute projects for future Client development.

Key requirements for the role:

Bookkeeping- 8+ years of hands-on Bookkeeping experience. Certificate IV. Confident in the use of Xero and MYOB with a keen eye for attention to detail. We pride ourselves on the high standard of work that we produce and are in search of someone who shares the same passion.

Team Leadership- Relevant team leadership experience. A keen eye to identify problems early on and the ability to nurture the team’s skill set and culture.

Time management– Competent in creating daily and weekly plans for your own client deliverability and your teams. Able to prioritise short-term and long-term tasks to ensure work is delivered timely and relevant parties are happy with the results.

Communication– Our client believes their work should be delivered with education. You should have the ability to communicate your work with full transparency and in a way your clients will understand.

Growth mindset- Wanting to challenge yourself to improve the day to day practices of yourself and your team. Able to look at the bigger picture and work with the Management team to develop a service that exceeds the client’s expectations.
